Terms of Use
Effective: October 19, 2026
These terms set out the conditions for using the app “Yasashii ID Photo” (the “App”), provided by Kenichi Kasuya, an independent developer (the “Developer”). By using the App, you agree to these terms. On iPhone, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; on Android, Google Play's Terms of Service apply to downloading and purchasing.
1. What the App does
From a photo you have, the App makes ID photo images cut to the size, face size and margins in the rules of the purpose you choose, and checks the photo against those rules with fixed rules on your device. The results of the check are a guide; some things, such as hats, masks and colored contact lenses, are for you to check by eye.
2. Acceptance is not promised
This app is a tool that helps you make photos that fit the rules of where you submit them. It is not affiliated with, and does not represent, any office, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japan Agency for Local Authority Information Systems (J-LIS), the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, the police and exam organizers. We cannot promise that a photo you make will be accepted; that is decided by where you submit it. Rules can change, so check the latest guidance from where you submit (the rules in this app were checked on 2026-10-18).
3. Changing photos
- The offices for passports, My Number Cards, residence cards and driver's licenses state that they do not accept retouched or altered photos. For these purposes, the App only crops the photo, sizes it and turns the whole photo slightly.
- Do not submit a photo that looks different from you, or a photo of someone else, as your own (for the Common Test for University Admissions, registering a photo of someone else is treated as misconduct).
- Replacing the background and adjusting the photo are for purposes without rules, such as a résumé. If where you submit has rules, follow them.
4. Your photos
Your photos and the images you make remain yours. Use them at your own judgment and responsibility. Before making or sharing an ID photo of another person, obtain that person's consent (or their guardian's). You are responsible for any dispute with a third party arising from your use of images.
5. Rights in the App
The rights in the App, its design and bundled content belong to the Developer or the respective rights holders. Open-source components are used under their licenses (see Licenses).
6. Purchase
- The App is free to start, and you can save 1 image a day. Each saved image counts as one.
- The one-time purchase (one payment, no auto-renewal) removes the daily limit and the ad on the screen shown after saving. The ad on the home screen, for the Developer's own apps, remains after purchase.
- The price is ¥300 (tax included) in Japan; in other countries and regions it is the price shown on the purchase screen and in the store. Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play).
- The purchase is not shared through Family Sharing.
- After changing devices or reinstalling, use “Restore Purchase” with the same Apple Account (iPhone) or Google account (Android) you bought with. On Android the purchase also comes back on its own.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. After a refund, the App returns to the free version the next time it checks your purchase with the store.
- Minors should obtain a parent's or guardian's consent before purchasing.
7. Prohibited conduct
Using the App for unlawful purposes; submitting a photo of someone else as your own or otherwise impersonating others; infringing others' rights (including portrait and privacy rights); creating images that deceive or defame others; interfering with the App; or reverse engineering it except where permitted by law.
8. Disclaimer
The App is provided as is. Results vary by photo, and whether a photo is accepted is decided by where you submit it. Except in cases of intent or gross negligence on the Developer's part, the Developer's liability is limited to direct and ordinary damages, up to the amount you paid for the App. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
9. Changes and end of service
The App may change without notice. The rules in the App are reviewed and delivered with app updates, and a change to an office's rules may not be reflected right away. If the App is discontinued, we will try to announce this in advance.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Chiba District Court has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance, without limiting your right to use the courts and consumer protection laws that mandatorily apply where you live.
